Small world

On wednesday evening I was in my flat the UK. 18 hours later I was in a hotel in Hong kong after a car ride, a couple of movies and a kip during a plane journey, a train and a cab.

Many folks all over the world do this sort of trip all the time, so it is probably no real surprise to them, but to me, the ease with which this kind of distance can be travelled is astonishing. 50 years ago, a trip such as this would have taken weeks to organise, taken many days to accomplish, cost the earth, and been fraught with delays and waits. 100 years ago you simply couldn't do it in less than 2 months. How much smaller can the world get?

HK, by the way, is as stunning as I remember it from my last visit 5 years ago. Though (thankfully) not as hot.
